Mechatronics student receives President’s Award for Leadership in Sustainability
Mechatronic systems engineering student Raaj Chatterjee has been selected as the student recipient of the President’s Award for Leadership in Sustainability. SFU president Andrew Petter recognized Chatterjee along with the staff and faculty recipients in this award category at the annual awards dinner on February 27, 2018.
Excerpt from the SFU News story:
[Chatterjee] has a deep understanding of the interconnections between social and environmental problems. Currently on a 12-month co-op with Apple, he has contributed significantly to groups and movements at SFU and beyond, including SFU 350, DivestSFU, Young Climate Voters BC, the Interfaith Food Delivery Program, and Team Phantom. Chatterjee is dedicated to building community wellbeing while generating solutions to complex global issues. He seeks to hone his academic skills in technology development with an aim to bring affordable clean energy or health care solutions to developing regions of the world, connecting the social, economic and ecological components of sustainability. In 2016, he was selected as a finalist for Canada’s Top 25 Environmentalists under 25 list.
