Send Later

Outlook for PC

The Send Later feature allows you to schedule a message to be sent at a later date/time. This page outlines how to use this feature in the Outlook 2016 for PC desktop application.

Note: this feature is only available in the Outlook desktop applications and cannot be performed in the Outlook Web App. Your desktop application must be running in Online mode, otherwise your message will not be sent if you close your Outlook application.

Send Later

1. Compose a new message as normal. In the message composition window, click the Options tab in the ribbon. Then, click Delay Delivery.

2. A window will open providing you with a number of different options for this message. Under Delivery options, ensure the 'Do not deliver before' checkbox is checked and enter a date and time in the drop-down menus beside that checkbox. Click Close when you are finished.

3. You will know your message is scheduled to be sent later when the Delay Delivery button in the ribbon is grey.

4. When you are ready to send your message, click Send as usual.

5. The message will then sit in your Drafts folder until it is scheduled to be sent. You can edit or discard the message by clicking on it within your Drafts folder.
