Look for an email in your SFU account seeking note-takers

Where the CAL determines that a student in a course requires a note-taker, the CAL sends emails to all class members soliciting a volunteer.  The request will include directions about contacting the CAL to volunteer for the position (see below).

Listen for an in-class announcement

If the email solicitation does not result in the hiring of a volunteer note-taker, the instructor may be asked to make an announcement directly to the class.  That announcement will direct interested students to contact the CAL if they are interested in filling the note-taking position.

Apply in person at the CAL

When you contact the CAL you will be asked to provide us with your name, student number, phone number, email address, etc., and the course in which you’ll be taking the notes. You will also be asked to provide a representative sample of your notes.  We will start processing applications at the start of each term and selected note-takers will be contacted immediately by the CAL.
