Linguistics is about how we acquire languages, how we use them, and how they work.

Portable skills you can acquire by studying Linguistics include: how to construct logical arguments; how to achieve solutions to complex problems using clear, concise, coherent reasoning; inferencing strategies; how to improve your focus; and teamwork.

The Linguistics program in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences offers a minor and certificates in First Nations language proficiency and in teaching ESL linguistics as well as a major.
