BEFORE THE FAIR: How To Prepare
Get Ready!
The West Coast Virtual Fair Jobs & Volunteer Expo is open to all students and alumni!
- First and second year students:
- Explore open volunteer roles and summer jobs.
- Use the resource What Can I Do with a Degree In... to explore potential career paths for your major. Talk to employers to learn about, and prepare for, future co-op and career opportunities.
- Students in third or fourth+ years, graduate students, alumni and students actively seeking a co-op or career role:
- These are industry professionals and recruiters from companies who are seeking talented individuals like you!
- Consult the Exhibitors List to find out what the organizations are looking for. How can you stand out?
Research the Exhibitors
Get to know the organizations ahead of time. See the list of Exhibitors and their open positions on the Fair Platform. Research their websites and review their LinkedIn and other social media accounts for news and updates. Prepare questions and a short introduction.
Know Your Strengths
- Reflect on past roles, experiences and coursework to identify strengths and skills. Be prepared to articulate them when asked
- Prepare a short introduction to yourself - include your top skills, education, interests. Position yourself as a good addition to their team – what do you bring?

BEFORE: Evaluate The Organizations
Spend some time researching organizations before the Career Fair. This will give you a sense of what is important to them, but will also help you determine if they are a good fit for you!
What makes a good fit?
Consider these factors:
- Work Culture
- Vision and Values
- Mission Statement
- Organization
- Business Model
- Clarity and Public Image on the organization
We do our best to ensure only registered organizations with existing appropriate licenses are in attendance.
