The pilot version was activated in 2021!
SFU Urban Studies, with support from the Alumni Association, were pleased to launch the pilot offering of our new Mentorship Program. In Spring 2021, nineteen SFU Urban Studies students were competitively selected to participate. The program directors matched each student with an SFU Urban Studies alum, and these pairings were revealed at our exciting kick-off event in May, featuring Keynote Speaker Seth Klein. Each pairing created and signed a unique Mentorship Framework Commitment and met at least 1x monthly from May 2021 - December 2021. Optional conversation guides are circulated each month, focusing on topics such as effective communication, navigating career changes, emotional intelligence, and networking.
The first cohort enjoyed an in-person evening event in October 2021, and celebrated the successful conclusion of the mentorship program in February 2022.
