Convocation is an exciting and proud moment to mark the achievements of our graduands. Family and friends are invited to share in that excitement by joining us at convocation.
Graduands may invite up to four guests to attend in-person.
Guests unable to attend in-person?
Each ceremony will be live broadcast through YouTube and then available afterwards to watch on demand.
General information
TRANSPORTATION & PARKING
Complimentary parking is available in the North Lot for graduands and guests. Accessible parking is available in the Central Parkade located under Convocation Mall (there is an elevator in the Maggie Benston Centre).
We advise you to arrive early, car pool or take public transit. Due to high volumes of people on campus, it can take up to 30 minutes to find parking and walk to Convocation Mall.
ARRIVAL
Follow the signage to Convocation Mall and find your seat(s).
Convocation Mall will open at:
- 8:45 a.m. for the morning ceremony
- 1:30 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony
Note: please do not enter Convocation Mall until it has opened
AUDIENCE SEATING
Guests will be seated outdoors, under the covered part of Convocation Mall, behind the graduand seats.
We strongly encourage you to dress appropriately for the weather. If it is cool, wear layers and consider bringing a blanket. If it's warm, please bring a water bottle. A water station can be found outside the Maggie Benston Centre.
Blankets, water bottles and other convocation related giftware items are for sale on-site at the SFU Spirit Shop found in the Diamond Family Auditorium.
Please read our FAQs to better understand if you can bring strollers, pets and large balloon bouquets into Convocation Mall.
ACCESSIBILITY
If you require accessible seating, an usher will assist you with finding a seat in Convocation Mall.
Certified guide/service animals are allowed in Convocation Mall.
