On May 11 and 12, the University of Waterloo will be hosting the Excellence and Quality of Academic Life in STEM (EQUALS) Conference! EQUALS is open to graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and young scholars who are considering an academic career in STEM. One of the focuses of the conference is introducing students to the broad range of STEM careers that are available to them, while explicitly focusing on gender equity in STEM. Sessions will include information on the underrepresentation of women scholars in STEM, associated challenges in academia, and the identification of potential solutions. WWEST's own Dr. Lesley Shannon (NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering, BC/Yukon Region) will be a featured keynote speaker at EQUALS!
