BISC undergraduate alumnus receives 2019 Theodosius Dobzhansky Prize

April 02, 2019

Department of Biological Sciences

We are pleased to announce that SFU undergraduate alumnus Dr. Matt Pennell is the recipient of the 2019 Theodosius Dobzhansky Prize from the venerable Society for the Study of Evolution. The prize is awarded annually "to recognize the accomplishments and future promise of an outstanding young evolutionary biologist." In addition to fame (including a featured seminar at the upcoming annual meeting), it comes with a $US 5000 cash award.

SFU has done well with this international award. If we include our own Prof. Bernie Crespi, Matt is the fourth present or past member of Biological Sciences to have received the award, following Dr. Howard Rundle and Dr. Patrik Nosil.

Congratulations to Matt!
