Botanical Drawing Showcase by BISC337 Students

April 10, 2026

On Friday April 10th the Biology Department gathered to celebrate a Botanical Drawing Showcase featuring the work of my students in BISC 337-Plant Biology.

I was extremely proud of the students, who have worked hard all term on their scientific observation, drawing and communication skills in lab. Their efforts have really paid off, as the staff, students, faculty and friends of the department in attendance repeatedly told me how impressed they were with the skill and knowledge displayed by the students in their drawings.

The attendees also voted on the top drawings across 4 categories, as well as an additional ‘Instructors’ Choice’ category, with the winning students receiving a frame to display their drawings. So many people commented that it was difficult to make a final choice for their vote because all the drawings were so good. You can see the remarkable drawings of the 5 winners, as well as the runners-up in each category.

Congratulations to everyone for their amazing work!
