We are asking people who work at SFU and have a regular parking pass to please park in the parking lot where they normally park, whether it is the East parking lot, the North parking lot, etc., and reserve the Central Parkade for non-SFU people who are driving to SFU from off campus.
There is free parking for ceremony attendees at the Central Parkade. Should the Central Parkade be full, please use the pay parking lots close to the auditorium, West Parkade or North Parking Lot.
From the Traffic Light at the Junction of Burnaby Mountain Parkway, Gaglardi Way, and University Drive East
- Drive up Gaglardi Way as shown by the red line on the map. DO NOT drive up University Drive East!
- Stay right at the round about and continue up Gaglardi Way
- DO NOT turn right onto South Campus Road.
- As you curve to the left on Gaglardi Way, you will see the Gymnasium and running track on your left. You are now driving at the Transportation Centre building which has three flag poles on top of it.
- Go to the right of the Transportation Centre. You will see a person holding a sign that says “Glen Tibbits Celebration of Life Event”. Stop and talk to this person. She/he will direct you where to turn on the right to enter the Central Parkade, and which level to drive to and park.
- The clearance height in the parkade is 1.95 meters, or 76.8 inches.
- The Central Parkade has two levels, and you can’t drive your car between the two levels. Yes, this sounds odd, but it is true! There will be a person on each level of the parkade directing you where to park.
- The exit from the lower level of the parkade is at the far (east) end of the parkade. To leave the university, you drive on a road between the WAC Bennett Library and the Halpern Centre. You then turn left onto University Drive East.
- The exit from the upper level of the parkade is at the close (west) end of the parkade, where you originally drove into the parkade. You turn right from the parkade and then turn left onto University Drive West.
