Transportation and Parking
We encourage you and your guests to take public transportation to Convocation ceremonies. Translink provides excellent service to the University and drops you off very close to the ceremony site. Please see the translink website for transit schedules to the Burnaby campus.
Road work is in progress from April - September on University Drive East (between Gaglardi Way and University High Street) and on Nelson Way (between University Drive East and Greenhouse Lane). Delays and detours are expected. In addition, heavier traffic is anticipated on convocation days. Please allow for extra travel time.
If you’re travelling by bus, please check with TransLink for the most up-to-date information.
Complimentary convocation parking
Complimentary parking is available in the North Lot for graduands and guests.
Accessible parking is available in the Central Parkade located under Convocation Mall (there is an elevator in the Maggie Benston Centre).
If you need a special parking space for someone with mobility impairment, please identify yourself to SFU security at our Information Centre (see campus map).
Students with mobility impairments
If you are a student with mobility impairment and use a wheelchair, scooter or crutches, special arrangements can be made for you, with a few days' notice. Please contact the Centre for Accessible Learning (778-782-3112) in advance.
