Instructions for the CONVOCATION PROCESSion

Assembly location: Strand Hall 3101
Ceremony Times: 9:45 a.m. / 2:30 p.m. daily

8:55 a.m. / 1:40 p.m.: Arrive for robing
9:15 a.m. / 2:00 p.m.: Assembly commences
9:35 a.m. / 2:20 p.m.: Procession departs

For those who are processing, please check in at Strand Hall 3101. Valuables, coats, etc., may be left in the assembly room and picked up there no later than one hour after the ceremony.

REGALIA

Reserved SFU regalia or black gowns can be picked up prior to the ceremony at Strand Hall 3101. Please return the regalia immediately following the ceremony.

Convocation ceremonies are held outdoors. Please dress accordingly.

Transportation and parking

If you are driving to campus, we recommend that you park in the North parking lot. Parking will be free for participants in the June 2022 convocation ceremonies.

Event Photography/Videography

This event and attendees will be photographed and/or videotaped by SFU. If you do not wish to be in the photos or video, please step aside when you see the camera. The full SFU privacy notice is available here.  

Health and safety

The health and well-being of SFU’s graduands, students, staff, faculty, guests and the university community is our top priority. SFU follows health and safety protocols as advised by regional and provincial health authorities.

Currently, masks are not required in indoor or outdoor public spaces across the province and are a matter of personal choice, unless further public health orders are made. SFU encourages mask use on our campuses, particularly in spaces where people are in close proximity. Please be understanding and compassionate of people’s individual circumstances and choices.

Information for Faculty

Academic Procession

Faculty members who wish to walk in the Academic Procession are asked to register before May 24, 2022. Even if you own your regalia, it is necessary that you register online to ensure you have a seat on the platform. Information about the academic procession can be found in the resource section in the right column at the top of the page.
