Applicants must be a PhD student in an accredited, degree-granting university.
Applicants must complete by April 15 of all requirements for the PhD degree except research and writing of the dissertation.
There are no restrictions as to the location of work proposed or the citizenship/residence of applicants.
Details:
The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Dissertation Fellowships in Buddhist Studies provide one-year stipends to PhD candidates for full time preparation of dissertations. The fellowship period may be used for fieldwork, archival research, analysis of findings, or for writing after research is complete.
No other employment is permitted during the fellowship period.

Details:
The grants are awarded annually to Ph.D. candidates who are writing their dissertations. Research topics should be related to the history of science and technology in modern East Asia. Comparative studies of East Asia and the West as well as studies in related fields (mathematics, medicine and public health) are also welcome.
