Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK – Commonwealth Rutherford Fellowships

Amount:

A stipend of 1,627 GBP per month (2,720 CAD/month, or 32,640 CAD/year) or 2,019 GBP per month (3,370 CAD/month, or 40,440 CAD/year) for those at universities in the London metropolitan area
Research support grant of 2,500 GBP (4,180 CAD) per annum
Study travel grant of 1,000 GBP (1,670 CAD) per award
Round-trip airplane tickets

Deadline: December of each year

Requirements:

Citizenship: Citizens/refugees in a Commonwealth country other than the United Kingdom
General: Received doctoral degree no more than ten years

Eligibility:

Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by a Commonwealth country other than the United Kingdom, or be a British Protected Person.
Be permanently resident in a Commonwealth country other than the UK, and not based in the UK at the time of application.
Have been awarded your PhD no more than ten years prior to 1 November of the current application.
Must identify one institution that you think is the most appropriate to host your fellowship, and to explain your reasons, and also provide evidence of agreement to host your fellowship from an academic at your chosen institution.

Details:

Commonwealth Rutherford Fellowships are for highly skilled researchers from other Commonwealth countries to spend one or two years at an eligible UK university or higher education institution conducting postdoctoral research. The purpose is to support world-class research and innovation, and to contribute to the UK’s research base by attracting high-calibre international candidates and encouraging links and collaboration.
You may apply for support for postdoctoral research for one or two years.
Your award will be tenable only at a UK university with which the CSC has a joint funding agreement.
