Youth Led Environmental Action Recognized with WWF Canada Award
We congratulate Dr. Cher Hill, doctoral student Neva Whintors, and Dr. Ching-Chiu Lin on their participatory action research project being recognized through WWF Canada’s Graeme Loader Community Panda Award. Their work engaged elementary students in outdoor learning, digital storytelling, and place-based environmental care, demonstrating how research can move beyond publication into sustained, student-led community action. The award affirms the students’ collective contributions from organizing a school-wide film festival to caring for tadpoles when the weather became unseasonably warm, and highlights the project’s intergenerational commitments to local ecological responsibility.
Visualizing Research Networks in Honour of Collaborative Scholarship
Exploring an interactive map to showcase and honor FoE faculty members’ SSHRC-funded projects since 2016. The map offers a panoramic view of FoE research undertakings across British Columbia, Canada, the United States, and internationally. By visualizing these projects, the map highlights not only the geographic breadth of research activity but also the depth of cross-border and cross-cultural collaborations. This method allows us to trace past and present relational networks, illuminate emerging connections, and surface future research possibilities.
