Jane Stafford

Walt Disney Animation Studios, Vancouver (Spring/Summer 2025)

At Walt Disney Animation Studios Vancouver, I was a co-op software engineer on the Lighting & Materials team. Everyone who worked at the studio was so kind, fun, and friendly - they made it a great time at work every day! The highlight of my experience was to technically support the talented artists at the studio. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to help them out!

Alen Mehmedbegovic

MDA Space (Fall 2025/Spring 2026)

I joined SFU's Satellite Design Team in Spring 2024, seeking relevant experience for employment. However, the club turned into so much more for me. I learned how to take ownership and lead a team of my own, doing work I genuinely cared about and found interesting. I had found an entire community to develop for and work on cool things. After about a year in the Satellite Design Team, I was about to secure an internship at one of Canada's top space companies (MDA Space) with my relevant experience. My main advice would be to get involved!

Darian Wong

TransLink (Spring/Summer 2024), WorkSafeBC (Spring/Summer/Fall 2025)

Working in the public sector taught me that data isn't just numbers. It's the people. At TransLink, I built internal tools that helped over 10 product teams work more effectively, resulting in reliable transit service in Metro Vancouver. At WorkSafeBC, the data solutions and analytics I developed empower prevention officers, employers, media, ministry, and legal teams to make data-driven decisions, all working toward one goal: every worker goes home safe at the end of the day. It's heartwarming to know my work was connected to something bigger than myself, which made every challenge worth it. My advice for future co-op students: Don't wait until you feel ready... you're more prepared than you think. Just go for it.
