Request for Review of Academic Requirements
We recognize applicants may experience challenges meeting academic requirements due to the nature of their undergraduate program or extenuating circumstances. You may complete the following form to request an exception after a review of your circumstances.
This form may only be used to request an exception to the following policies:
- degree equivalency;
- 90 units in 4 calendar years;
- and 30 upper division units.
SFU does not offer pre-submission evaluation of applications. As such, reviewers will not provide opinions or confirmation of any other aspect of the application. Applicants are responsible for reviewing the Applicant Manual to ensure they meet all other academic requirements.
Once this form is submitted, the committee will assess your case, and the Admissions Office will follow up with you via email regarding the outcome.
Review may take 10 business days, with additional time required if the request is incomplete and/or reviewers request additional information. You may begin your application while you await a decision.
If you submit a request after September 16, 2026 you may not receive a response before the application deadline and may need to submit your application prior to receiving a decision. As a reminder, application submission and all components of your application are due October 7, 2026.
Thank you for your interest in the SFU Stephens Family School of Medicine.
