Far too many British Columbians are without a family doctor. You can help us change that.

When you donate to the SFU School of Medicine, you’re investing in the next generation of primary care physicians dedicated to improving the health of diverse communities around us. Your generosity provides much-needed support for medical students with financial need to access required training and persevere in their future career. You’ll be putting more family doctors in practice throughout the province.

The SFU School of Medicine is being built by and for B.C. Will you give to help us meet today’s critical need and transform the future of our health-care system?

Featured donors

Meet some of the donors who are already making a difference as we build the new SFU School of Medicine.

Dr. Reinhard Baildon (BSc ’80 and MSc ’82)

SFU alum Reinhard Baildon (BSc ’80, MSc ’82) recognizes how the university opened many possibilities for his rewarding career as a physician and later leading teams making life changing medicines available to desperately ill patients. His decision to make a personally meaningful contribution to the SFU School of Medicine Student Award Fund was motivated by his appreciation for his foundational education in Kinesiology and his desire to give back to the next generation of health care providers as they venture through their own journey to and through medical school.

Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation

Through visionary support from the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, a new Award will be established and disbursed annually, beginning with a student in the inaugural cohort. The purpose of the Award is to support a student from the Fraser Health Region who is committed to serving their community as a future health care professional. We deeply appreciate the Foundation’s partnership in supporting socially-accountable primary care physicians in B.C.

LifeLabs

As the leading provider of laboratory diagnostic services, LifeLabs is a trusted partner serving millions of Canadians and their health care teams for more than 60 years. LifeLabs has generously established a Student Award to support up to five SFU School of Medicine students each year. The award is dedicated to students from equity-deserving, rural or Indigenous communities who are committed to pursuing their goal of becoming medical doctors in British Columbia.
