Welcome to the SFU Stephens Family School of Medicine!
We’re so excited to have you here and to support you as you begin this journey.
This roadmap is here to guide you through what’s ahead—key dates, deadlines, and events as you prepare for your first day of classes in August. Information on activities such as enrolment and orientation will be shared in the coming weeks. Please check back to this roadmap regularly for updates.
Over your transition into the MD Program, you will be kept up-to-date through:
- Get Started MD Newsletter (ongoing) - A newsletter delivered to your inbox regularly.
- Learner Portal (July) - The Learner Portal will keep you informed and connected to events, services, and resources to support your journey into and throughout the program.

Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) becomes available
July 13: Please use the Confirmation of Enrolment sent to your SFU email.
Book an Appointment for Financial Planning
July 15 onwards: Planning how to fund your MD education is an important part of your journey. Explore financial support resources available on the Learner Portal and access personalized guidance to help you make informed financial decisions: Meet with Tara Yagos, Financial Literacy Consultant, for a tailored, 1-hour appointment on funding options, budgeting, debt management, or overall financial planning.

Student Cards – ID, Access, U-PASS Compass Cards
Month of July
- Student ID cards: You can pick up your Student ID Card from Enrolment Services, located in the Mezzanine floor of Surrey Campus (open from 9am – 4pm Monday – Thursday; and 10am – 4pm on Fridays).
- Student Access Cards: Pick up at SFU Surrey Campus, SRYC Security Desk in the SRYC mezzanine (open 24/7).
- U-PASS BC – Compass Card: access to the U-Pass program and how to obtain a compass card can be found here.
*Required: bring a piece of government-issued photo ID (physical not digital copy) that includes your full name and date of birth in English and it must be valid (i.e. not be expired). Acceptable forms of ID include your passport, Canadian driver's license, or Certificate of Indian Status.
