Ana Mendez
Ana Mendez is passionate about the complexity of cities. Using a social and environmental justice lens, she looks at how people connect to space and how cities might design spaces to be more inclusive and just. Her research and coursework led the Tyee, a digital news outlet, to feature her perspective as a Mexican immigrant and the notion that “home” does not necessarily connect to a physical building. During her time at SFU, Ana has had the opportunity to work for NGOs aligned with her passions, such as CityHive and SFU Public Square, as well as a research assistant on a project focused on sustainable housing.
