The President's Dream Colloquium, hosted by WWEST Chair Dr. Lesley Shannon, takes place September 13-November 23, and one of the talks will be by Dr. Cathy O'Neil. This talk is entitled, "Gender and Bias in Algorithmic Design."

We invite you to join the PDC for “Women in Technology: Attracting, Retaining and Promoting Diverse Talent” to explore strategies for advancing diversity in the technology sector, critically analyze the culture that has supported a foundation of inequality therein, and engage in multidisciplinary dialogue about the value of creating more space for women and other under-represented groups in technology.

Dr. Cathy O’Neil is the author of the blog mathbabe.org and several books, including Weapons of Math Destruction. She was the former Director of the Lede Program in Data Practices at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, Tow Center, and was employed as the Data Science Consultant at Johnson Research Labs.
