- manages the departmental tech staff and the Geography Resource Office
- general departmental technical operations and logistics
- responsible for departmental health and safety, and security programs
- departmental liaison for correspondence with SFU ancillary services (SFU Security, Facilities Management, Environmental Health and Research Safety, etc.)
- administers departmental resource holdings
- ensures department operations adhere to university, municipal, provincial, and federal regulations
