Instructor
Liberal Arts and 55+ Program

Veselin Jungic is a professor at the Department of Mathematics at SFU. He is a 3M National Teaching Fellow and a recipient of several teaching awards, including the Adrien Pouliot Award and the Canadian Mathematical Society Excellence in Teaching Award.

Most of his work is within Ramsey theory and the field of mathematics education.

Ramsey theory can be described as the study of unavoidable regularity in large structures. In the words of T. Motzkin, "complete disorder is impossible". Together with J. Fox, M. Mehdian, R. Radoicic, and J. Nesetril, he started a new trend which can be categorized as rainbow Ramsey theory. Veselin is interested in exploring the existence of rainbow/heterochromatic structures in a coloured universe, under certain density conditions on the coloring, with the goal of showing that complete disorder is unavoidable.

His interests in the field of mathematical education include the use and creation of online assessment tools and techniques in teaching large math classes.
