Laurie Parsons

Instructor
Non-Profit Management

Laurie brings over 35 years of leadership and front-line experience in feminist, anti-violence non-profits in the Lower Mainland. She holds a BA in adult education and an MA in gender, race, sexuality and social justice. Laurie also brings 15 years of teaching and facilitation experience in addition to her non-profit leadership experience. She has taught in the Adult Education program at UFV's Adult Education for Social Change course, both in the classroom and online, among other courses. She has also developed and instructed courses for B.C.’s Transition House and for anti-violence workers, some of which were held online while others were facilitated in communities throughout the province.

Laurie is committed to a more just society and believes that non-profits have a central role to play. She recently moved across the Salish Sea to the unceded Coast Salish Territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ nations, where she enjoys a humble little consulting practice providing interim executive director coverage, executive director support, needs assessments, strategic planning, workshop and curriculum development, and facilitation. Laurie feels passionately about the Strategy and Leadership course and is privileged to have facilitated it since 2017.
