Laurie brings to her teaching over 30 years of leadership experience in the anti-violence non-profit sector. She holds a BA in adult education (University of the Fraser Valley) and an MA in gender, race, sexuality and social Justice (University of British Columbia). Laurie has taught in the BA Adult Education program at UFV, both Introduction to Adult Education and Adult Education and Social Change, in the classroom and online. She has also developed and instructed courses for BC’s Transition House and anti-violence workers, some of which were held online, while others were facilitated in communities throughout the province. Laurie is passionate about aligning an organization’s practices with its beliefs and increasing access to resources for those most marginalized. She is currently the executive director of Ishtar Society.
