Academic Resources

Library

The SFU Library, a 3-minute walk from the department, is a large, modern facility that houses almost a million print volumes and 800,000 microforms. The library owns more than 3000 volumes and 40 periodicals whose main focus is statistics or actuarial science. Many journals and other academic materials are available online. The collection is constantly supplemented. Students may also draw on the considerable library resources of the University of British Columbia as well as interlibrary loan.

Computing

The department maintains a modern computing network, providing access to a wide range of software running on Linux, UNIX, Windows, and Mac platforms. Students have access to a variety of high-performance servers through Compute Canada. SFU has long been a leader in computing support for statistical and mathematical research.
