Actuarial Science

The Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) administers the University Accreditation Program (UAP) for actuarial education. Through the UAP, students who achieve a certain minimum grade in designated ACMA or STAT courses can gain exemptions from the corresponding professional examinations. See the list of these courses here.

If you plan to leave Canada before earning your Fellowship in the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, you may benefit from taking the actual professional exam instead of applying for UAP credits. In this case, if you are able to study independently, you should not necessarily wait until you have completed all the courses listed before taking the corresponding exam.
