As a Linguistics graduate student, you are encouraged to participate in and have access to an array of professional development opportunities.

All Linguistics graduate students participate in LING 890 and LING 891 during their first year, offered in the Fall and Spring semesters consecutively. LING 890/891 are graduate seminars that occur once and month and focus on a specific topic. A full listing of current and past topics are available here.

The GSS offers Professional Development Grants of up to $500 for graduate students who are travelling to attend conferences or engage in field research. Please visit the GSS website for application form and deadlines.

As an SFU graduate student, you are encouraged to register in the free Professional Development Workshops - specifically the APEX offerings - through the Dean of Graduate Studies.
