Communications & Marketing

Within SFU External Relations, the Communications & Marketing portfolio has a mandate to enhance SFU's brand and reputation, build a unified voice across academic and administrative departments, and advance the university's strategic vision as Canada's leading engaged research university.

The portfolio is responsible for developing comprehensive, integrated communications and marketing strategies in support of the University's vision and priorities through external and internal communications, media relations and stakeholder outreach.

Reporting to the Vice President External Relations, the Communications & Marketing portfolio includes:

Within University Communications, key service responsibilities to the campus include:

  • Strategic communications planning for external and internal audiences
  • Issues management and crisis communications
  • Earned and social media relations and engagement
  • Content and design of key portions of SFU's website

Within the Creative Studio team, part of Marketing and Brand Management, key service responsibilities include:

  • Working with the university community in developing materials that support the university's vision and faculty priorities. This includes strategy, project management, graphic design and production management (print publications, online, video), web development.
  • Ensuring SFU's brand guidelines and standards are followed.
  • Working with others to oversee use of SFU's official trademarks to ensure they are adequately protected while generating maximum exposure and benefit for the university.
