Last Saturday, SFU competed in the ACM Competition Regionals, in a region comprised of BC and 6 US states. I am happy to report, that SFU Red (Aaron Chan, Simon Lo, Nhan Nguyen) solved 9/10 problems to finish 2nd out of 73 teams! This performance was A-1: finishing 2 more problems than the 3rd place team! This is the second year in a row that an SFU has qualified for the World Finals. They are an exceptional group, besting the top-notch forces of UBC, Stanford and Berkeley. A UBC team also qualified for the World Finals, finishing 1st with 9/10 problems, but in faster time than SFU Red. This means another Canadian sweep for our region! The other SFU teams also posted a very good showing. SFU Blue (Hang Chen, Adi Himawan, Behrooz Noorizadeh) solved 3 problems to finish 16th, and SFU White (Marcel Guzman, Daryl Van Humbeck, Carrie Wang) solved 2 problems to finish 32nd. All round, this is another great showing for SFU in the ACM competition, and you should give all of them a well-deserved congratulations!
