The Writer’s Studio hosted a special graduation and reunion event this week at our Vancouver campus that brought together emerging and experienced writers.

Hosted by associate program director Andrew Chesham, the evening celebrated the graduation of 63 students who recently completed the creative writing program either in Vancouver or online.

A number of Writer’s Studio alumni from throughout the program’s 19-year run were on hand for the festivities, including Janie Chang. In her keynote speech, the bestselling author of Three Souls and Dragon Springs Road drew from her personal experience to offer the packed room some well-received advice on the writing life.

Lifelong Learning dean Julia Denholm delivered the evening’s opening remarks, and four students—Erin Brown-John, Griffin Tedeschini, Elise Volkman and Ann Wilson—were selected by their program mentors to read from their work.

The Writer’s Studio online program will return in September with a new cohort, while the Vancouver program will begin accepting applications this fall for the 2020 program.

Congratulations to all our latest graduates, and welcome to the SFU writing community!
