Co-op Advice and Support

At SFU, we believe every student deserves access to meaningful work experiences. You don’t need a diagnosis or formal documentation to ask for support—if something is impacting your co-op journey, we’re here to help.

Our commitment is to create inclusive, student-centered co-op experiences that celebrate the diversity of our campus community. We offer support early, often, and without judgment, so you can focus on learning, growing, and succeeding.

May 11, 2026, update: Canvas Cloud recently experienced a widely reported breach. Institutions worldwide were impacted. For more information, see SFU Alerts.

To protect the SFU community, personal data, and academic assets, the University has taken precautions. Effective May 11, access to Canvas Cloud is now restricted. This means:

  • Class meetings should go ahead as scheduled, whether in-person or via Zoom for remote classes.
  • Students will no longer be able to sign in to Canvas Cloud.
  • We are reviewing all applications and tools connected to Canvas Cloud. Some of these applications and tools will be disabled during this review process.
  • Co-op Canvas courses are currently offline. Do not try to access them until further notice.
  • If you are a current Co-op student, check your SFU email frequently for updates from Co-op staff.
  • Watch for phishing attempts related to this breach. If in doubt about any message, email your Co-op team for confirmation.

These measures are necessary to safeguard SFU systems, protect sensitive information and reduce any potential risk arising from the breach. We recognize that this will be disruptive to students' overall learning experience and sincerely regret the impact.

SFU IT Services is actively monitoring our systems. The University will continue to assess the situation. If SFU receives assurances that Canvas Cloud is fully secure, access may be restored. Further updates will be shared as information becomes available. Please continue to visit ServiceHub for the latest updates.
