Tesicca Truong is a dedicated changemaker, sustainability activist, and youth engagement innovator. She was awarded the 2015 Greenest City Leadership Award and the SFU President’s Award for Leadership in Sustainability, and named on both the North American Association of Environmental Education and Corporate Knight’s Top 30 Sustainability Leaders under 30, all before she completed her degree.
Tesicca’s passion for sustainability and youth empowerment began in high school where she organized Plan-It Earth, a conference that connected students with city planners and promoted urban sustainability. This conference later became the Vancouver School Board Sustainability Conference, currently in its 7th year. She went on to co-found CityHive, a non-profit organization that facilitates collaboration between youth and civic leaders on issues from housing to civic education. Tesicca currently advises BC’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change as the youngest member of BC’s Climate Advisory Council. She also is the Board Chair of the Starfish Canada, a national non-profit that amplifies and empower young environmental leaders across the country.
