Reflecting on her time in the federal department of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs, Julia sees this hands-on learning experience as invaluable. Eager to apply what she has learned in the classroom, this role allowed her to try her hand in administrative and technical work, policy interpretation and academic research. During her 8-month co-operative education placement she was given the opportunity to expand her understanding of the Indigenous-settler relationship and grasp the nuances and complexities of these different perspectives. Her experience in this diverse role has given her a new appreciation for her studies while feeling inspired to expand her knowledge on Indigenous affairs.
