Support for Learning: Excluded Staff
There are a number of professional development opportunities for Excluded Employees at SFU.
Tuition Reimbursement

This policy provides for tuition reimbursement for off-campus (credit or non-credit), or SFU non-credit, Job-Related Courses up to $1000 per year under.
Reimbursement of Professional Development Expenses
Balance: To find the balance in your Professional Development account, go to my.sfu.ca, Login, and under Staff Resources click on "Professional Development Expenses".
Professional development expenses such as professional dues, computer hardware and software, conference fees may be reimbursed. It is important to note that
- only Continuing Excluded Employees are eligible for this benefit
- a purchase must be used for professional development in order to be claimed
- *effective January 1, 2009 the annual allocation is $700, total cumulative to $2100
Tuition Waiver
Tuition for SFU credit courses is waived for Continuing Excluded Employees and their Dependents.
Study Leave
For Continuing Excluded Employees who have completed six years of service, Study Leaves of up to twelve months may be granted.
Staff Mobility Initiative
(Through SFU International)
Supports staff exchange and/or attachment to a partner university overseas.
In-House courses and workshops offered through Human Resources
In addition to courses of interest to all employees, Human Resources offers several courses each semester especially for supervisors and managers:
