Teaching Dossiers for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows

Are you planning to pursue a career as a tenure-track faculty member? If so, then you will need to prepare a teaching dossier at some point in order to document your teaching approaches, experience and effectiveness in the classroom. This document, or parts of it, such as your teaching philosophy, will be required for faculty job applications and later on for tenure and promotion. A teaching dossier will also help you reflect on and refine your teaching practice and philosophy, which is essential for your professional development.

In this session, educational consultants Daria Ahrensmeier and Sarah Louise Turner from the Teaching and Learning Centre will guide participants through the components of a teaching dossier, review examples, discuss commonalities and differences across the disciplines and help them get started in their work on their own dossiers.

NOTE: This event is for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows only. A separate session is available for faculty on March 1, 15, & 29, 2019.

Wed, March 6, 2019 | 1:00–4:00
