H5P
Starting in Spring 2026, SFU is moving to Canvas Cloud, and H5P is one of the Tools affected by this transition. For details, check the link.
H5P Overview
H5P is a free, open source technology that enables the creation of interactive content such as quizzes, interactive videos and presentations. H5P is integrated within the SFU Canvas Learning Management System.
While Canvas is unavailable, how to access H5P interactions:
If you have added H5P content to your Canvas course and want to use it outside of Canvas, you can still access the H5P content by sending a link to it via email. Please see instructions here. Please note that if H5P was used in an assignment in Canvas, direct URL will not record results. The H5P interactions will be ungraded and anonymous. In addition, the URL display field is enabled for all H5P content but only visible to those in Canvas with roles of teachers and designers.
How Do I Add H5P to Canvas?
If you are interested in using H5P, you first need to request it be added to your SFU Canvas course. You can do this by contacting ceehelp@sfu.ca. The video below provides instructions on accessing H5P from the content editor. H5P tutorials and an SFU H5P guide are also available.
