Your faculty teaching fellows

SFU’s faculty teaching fellows (FTFs) are continuing faculty members within each Faculty who “support the continued improvement of teaching and learning within the Faculty.” They serve terms of one to three years and are selected through an open process determined by each Faculty dean. Appointment recommendations are approved and funded (up to a limit of two per Faculty) by the vice-president, academic. Faculties are free to fund additional positions.

FTFs “help address the challenges that instructors face and to communicate solutions across the Faculty, as well as […] provide a channel of communication between the Faculty and higher administrative units that focus on teaching.” The nature of the work varies according to the needs of each Faculty.

New and renewed appointments typically begin in September.

Ask your department who your faculty teaching fellow is. The Faculty Teaching Fellow (FTF) program is currently under review and at this time, no new FTF renewal or nomination will be accepted until further notice: https://www.sfu.ca/faculty-relations/appointments/chairs-fellowships-professorships/faculty-teaching-fellows.html
