Claudia Sicondolfo

SSHRC Funded Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Claudia Sicondolfo holds a SSHRC Post-Doctoral Fellowship for her research project “Survival Solidarities: Cross-Sectoral Collaborations in Activist Media Arts,” which thinks through generative possibilities for cross-sectoral collaborations within media arts sectors in Canada and the United States  She received her PhD in Cinema and Media Studies from York University, during which she held the Vanier CGS from 2017-2021. Her research projects address topics ranging from activism and solidarity tactics in the media arts, engagement tactics within film festivals, screen publics and cultural policy, AI and copyright as well as, AI and pedagogy, decolonizing nationalisms, and affect in the creative industries. Her writing has been published in ESSACHES, Public Journal, and Senses of Cinema, in addition to various book anthologies. She is the co-PI for the SSHRC Connections project Mobilizing the Canadian Community-Driven Audiovisual Archives Policy. She is also a Researcher with the Creative Labours, Critical Futures Centre and a Research Associate with the Platforming Leisure SSHRC Insight project. Claudia has worked intimately with educational communities across Canada and has published 10+ educational companion curriculum for documentaries. Prior to beginning her SSHRC Fellowship, Claudia with a PT Assistant Professor in Arts Management, in the Arts, Media, and Culture Department at the University of Toronto, Scarborough campus and worked with the National Film Board of Canada for almost a decade.
