CMNSU presents "Evolve Rebooted: The Zoom Series"

September 11, 2020

As we kick off the fall semester, many students may be experiencing a great deal of uncertainty, fueled by a lengthy list of questions:

“How do I get the most out of my online first year experience?”
“How can I be more engaged in global humanitarian and social issues?”
"How will I maintain my sanity? I am running out of quarantine activities!”

Over the years, CMNSU has continuously worked on improving engagement with CMNS majors, recently revamping the traditional FROSH event to EVOLVE; a sophisticated event encouraging students to socialize and network within the SFU Communication community. This year, CMNSU has rebranded the event yet again, to EVOLVE REBOOTED: THE ZOOM SERIES. This update is in light of the current political climate, ongoing social injustices and the pandemic we’re facing.

As fellow CMNS students, we felt that this change was necessary in order to avoid ignoring the fact that many students are facing hardship due to the unprecedented times we’re living in. This year, EVOLVE REBOOTED: THE ZOOM SERIES will provide actionable steps to ongoing allyship and also present self-care strategies to students preparing for online courses, students impacted by the global pandemic, and students coping with social issues.

Held virtually over Zoom over three days, each day will be hosted by a member of the Communication community, addressing topics such as advice for new students, social awareness, and mental wellbeing. All proceeds from the event will be donated to nonprofit organizations seeking to enhance, promote, and foster the social, economic, cultural, and political wellbeing of the Indigenous community, Yemeni children, and the Black community.

We hope to see you there!

EVOLVE REBOOTED: THE ZOOM SERIES September 25th, 26th & 27th 2-3 PM
