Dal Yong Jin Becomes an ICA Fellow

Simon Fraser University's Distinguished CMNS Professor recently becomes an International Communication Association (ICA) Fellow. ICA Fellow status is a recognition of distinguished scholarly contributions to the field of communication, and the primary consideration for fellowship is a documented record of scholarly achievement.  

Jin is a leading scholar in digital platforms, digital games, and the political economy of communication. He has published thirty four books, penned more than two hundred journal articles and book chapters, and edited eleven special journal issues. His contributions to advancing global media and the Korean Wave studeis led him to recieve the Outstanding Scholar Award from the Korean American Communication Association at the KACA 40th Anniversary Conference in 2018, as well as the Outstanding Research Award from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education of South Korea.

Jin has also provided commentaries to international media outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, NBC, The Vanouver Sun, The Guardian, The Telegraph, and China Daily, as one of the leading scholars on Korean pop culture.

He is currently the Director of the Transnational Culture and Digital Technology Lab and develops research projects on the form and scope of the transnationality in the Global South context.
