If you have any questions about how computer science can help the field of biology, please don't hesitate to ask her.

Nima Modares Gorji

I'm a second-year master's student in Computer Science. My research is in the Software Engineering field, with a focus on the performance of interactions between applications and database systems. I have also worked in a tech company before starting my master's for about 3 years, first as a software engineer, and then as a site reliability engineer. Generally, I'm interested in anything related to software systems (especially the performance side), and apart from computers, I'm into playing video games, listening to rock music, and drinking coffee!

Keynote Speaker (Academia)

Dr. Maleknaz Nayebi

Maleknaz Nayebi completed her PhD in 2018 at the University of Calgary and a subsequent postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto. She then transitioned to a faculty position in September 2018. Her research lab at York University focuses on automated techniques that narrow the requirements gap, enhancing development practices and understanding user needs. Published in top-tier venues with a focus on healthcare, her research has secured funding from multiple agencies. Recognized for her contributions, Nayebi received a prestigious invitation from NSERC to join the Computer Science Evaluation Group, a distinction for select faculty members across Canada. In 2023, she was honored with the IEEE TCSE award at the Requirements Engineering Conference.

Currently, she serves on the NSERC Discovery evaluation group (1507) and is a board member of the York Center for Feminist Research (CFR) and Y-EMREGE (York Emergency Mitigation, Engagement, Response, and Governance Institute). She is also a member of Connected Minds and York’s Center of AI for Society. Additionally, Nayebi has been awarded 16 grants as a PI and in collaboration. Her service in the software engineering community and affiliated institutes earned her the 2023 Lassonde Service Award. Notably, she co-chaired ESEM 2023, SANER 2020 ERA track, ESEM 2020 Emerging Ideas track, RE Data track 2018, IASESE 2018 advanced school, and several workshops.
