Janna M. Andronowski
BA Criminology, 2009
Janna M. Andronowski is an associate professor of BioMedical Sciences at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), and serves as the Forensic Anthropologist for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. She is also the Anatomy Curriculum Content Lead for MUN’s Undergraduate Medical Education Program.
She earned her BA and BSc from Simon Fraser University, followed by an MSc from the University of Toronto, and a PhD from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She later completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Saskatchewan.
Her research focuses on the high-resolution 3D imaging of bone microstructure and the study of bone adaptation, quality, and fragility associated with substance use and exposure. She has over fifteen years of experience working in forensic science laboratories and Medical Examiner’s Offices, including roles with the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in New York City, Simon Fraser University’s Centre for Forensic Research, and the Forensic Anthropology Center at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Andronowski is currently funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the National Institutes of Health, and the Canada Foundation for Innovation.
