Seven researchers from the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS) have received a total of $750,000 from Canada Foundation for Innovation’s John R. Evans Leaders Fund (CFI’s JELF). CFI’s JELF was created to help institutions recruit and retain outstanding researchers. The funding will help enable innovation by providing researchers with the tools needed to drive cutting-edge research.

Earlier this month, three of the FAS researchers, Vahid Hosseini, Shawn Sederberg and John Shen were also recipients of the BC Knowledge Development Fund.

Recipients of the CFI’s JELF:

Vahid Hosseini, Associate Professor, School of Sustainable Energy Engineering
Project title: Studying Alternative Transportation Decarbonization Pathways in Canadian Climate
CFI’s contribution: $100,000

Lawrence Kim, Assistant Professor, School of Computing Science
Project title: Swarm Robots and Mixed Reality for Positive Behavior Change
CFI’s contribution: $100,000
