2026 Faculty of Environment Three Minute Thesis Competition Heat

Present your thesis and its significance in just three minutes with a single, static slide to compete for cash prizes! This is a great opportunity to practice that "elevator pitch" about your research to a friendly crowd.

  • First Place: $400
  • Runner-up: $200
  • People's Choice: $100

The winner and runner-up will represent our Faculty at the university-wide final to compete for the top prize.

Visit the SFU Graduate Studies 3MT page for contest rules and eligibility, as well as workshops, practice sessions, slide templates, and other resources.

Graduate Research Poster Presentations

The Faculty will pay for printing for the first ten students who register!

Share your research in casual, small group conversations in the GEAR Up Poster Session. Faculty, staff and students will vote for the top poster and a $100 cash prize will be awarded to the winner.

Poster Criteria: Posters may be 2 x 3 feet (60 x 90 cm) or 3 x 4 feet (90 x 120 cm) depending on what format works best for you. Your poster will summarize your research concisely and attractively to generate discussion during the session.
