Scholarship, Bursary, and Student Loan/Grant Payments

With an SFU Scholarship

If you receive an SFU scholarship, your student account will be automatically credited for the value of the scholarship(s). However, if your award amount is less than the total amount owed, you must pay the difference by the fee deadline to avoid being levied monthly interest charges.

Scholarship funds are deposited to your account; you can confirm your account balance on goSFU. See scholarship refund cheque dates.

Scholarship monies cannot be applied to the $250 admission deposit.

With a Bursary

You are required to pay your tuition fees by the due date: see deadlines.

Bursary recipients are not excused from late payment deadlines as the timeline for bursary disbursement is well beyond the tuition payment deadline. Bursary funds are deposited to your account; you can confirm your account balance on goSFU.

See bursary refund cheque dates. Bursary monies cannot be applied to the $250 admission deposit.

With a Student Loan and/or Grant

We encourage students to apply at least four weeks before their first day of studies each term to ensure that they receive their funding before the tuition payment deadline: see deadlines.

When SFU confirms enrolment for Canadian and U.S. Direct Loan funding, we automatically deduct any outstanding tuition and fees, not just your next expected payment, regardless of whether you are on a payment plan or not. Please plan accordingly. See Financial Aid and Awards for more details.
