Dietary Selections

Halal

While browising the menu or Dining Commons, look for items marked “halal” or items that have the halal symbol next to them.

In addition to many of the plant-based and fish/seafood options available at Dining Commons, a variety of the meats used are halal, including the majority of chicken and beef burgers. Please check the menu labels or speak to a Dining Commons manager or chef with any specific questions.

The halal chicken used at Dining Commons is certified by the Halal Monitoring Authority.

Vegetarian

Most stations will have an option for those looking to eat vegetarian dishes. Some of the options you'll find include:

  • Sprout – features all vegetarian entrees and side dishes
  • Hot Plate – features customized teppanyaki vegetable and tofu stir fries prepared on a separate grill (without meats)
  • Leaf Market – features a great selection of salads and plant-based ingredients
  • Create – made-to-order vegetarian omelettes for breakfast and pastas in the evening

Plus, vegetarian pizza, soup, burgers, deli sandwiches and more.

Vegan

Keep an eye out for items labeled "vegan" or look out for the vegan symbol. Some of the areas you'll find options are:

  • Sprout – features all vegetarian entrees and side dishes, some of which are vegan
  • Hot Plate – features customized teppanyaki vegetable and tofu stir fries prepared on a separate grill (without meats)
  • Leaf Market – features a great selection of salads and plant-based ingredients

Made-without-gluten

Dining Commons is not a gluten-free facility; however, staff do their best to prevent cross-contamination wherever possible. Students with gluten sensitivities can look to customized stations, where they can pick the ingredients, sauces and condiments. The Made-Without-Gluten Pantry is also a space that is available to approved students with Celiac Disease, wheat allergy, or gluten intolerance.
