Dining Commons FAQs

Who can eat at Dining Commons?

Dining Commons is open to everyone—students, faculty, staff, and the public. Those not on a meal plan can pay the door rate or purchase a value pack and enjoy an all-you-care-to-eat meal at Dining Commons.

Where is the Dining Commons?

Find Dining Commons near the residence buildings, just beyond West Parkade. See it on a map here

Can I take food out of the Dining Commons?

Dining Commons features an all-you-care-to-eat dining program where guests dine-in. Take-out food is not available for walk-in or value pack customers.

*Meal plan holders with classes or activities on other campuses can pre-order a take-out lunch. See Dining Commons for details.

What are Dining Commons hours?

24/7 in the Fall and Spring Terms
7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. daily during the Summer Term

What if I have allergies or dietary restrictions?

Our dining team works hard to ensure that those with dietary restrictions (vegetarian, halal, vegan, gluten-free) are able to find options at every meal. Learn more here

The on-shift manager is always happy to meet with guests to discuss allergy or dietary restrictions. You can also make an appointment, Monday to Friday, with a manager by emailing dining_commons@sfu.ca.

How do Value Packs work?

Value packs are an excellent option if you're on campus often and want to save money when you dine at Dining Commons. By purchasing bulk meal swipes, you can save off the door rate! Value packs are available to students, staff and faculty with an SFU or FIC ID card. Find out more about Value Packs here
