What started as one campus building within the Central City mall complex has now expanded to over 600,000 square feet of campus space in Surrey’s downtown. Take a look at the different places in the community where SFU Surrey calls home.
SFU Surrey at Central City (SRYC)
Located in the heart of Surrey’s city centre and easily accessible by transit, the university’s first Surrey campus building (SRYC) opened above Central City mall on September 9, 2006. The space is home to a number of faculties, departments, centres and institutes, as well as state-of-the-art research and computing labs, a digital theatre, library and numerous classrooms and student study spaces. SFU at Central City is a diverse hub for academic, research and community engagements initiatives.

SFU on University Drive (SRYE)
In 2019, one block north-west of Central City mall, SFU Surrey expanded its campus footprint and opened SFU Surrey on University Drive (SRYE), a new, five-story, green, energy-efficient building, as part of phase one of the SFU Surrey campus expansion.
The building is home to SFU’s Sustainable Energy Engineering program, an interdisciplinary program which is the first of its kind in Western Canada. This award-wining and architecturally-stunning facility is LEED Gold certified and features modern classrooms and teaching labs, an open atrium and study spaces and a 400-seat theatre to support learning, research and community events.
