Three teaching-related grant programs worth knowing about

Faculty members and in some cases educational staff with an interest in trying new approaches in a course may receive up to $5,000 from three SFU grant programs. All three—the Integrated Learning Technology Development Grants, the Open Educational Resources Grants, and the Teaching and Learning Development Grants—are accepting applications this fall. Read about the differences between the grants.

A new director for the Teaching and Learning Centre

In late August, Dr. Brad Johnson, currently an assistant professor and director of the Center for Educational Innovation at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi, was named incoming director of SFU’s Teaching and Learning Centre. Chris Groeneboer will continue as interim director of the TLC until his appointment takes effect on March 1, 2017. Read the full announcement from the Office of the VP Academic.

Nominate someone for an Excellence in Teaching award

Will your course evaluations be online this semester?

This fall the Faculties of Applied Sciences, Education, Health Sciences and Science, along with the School of Interactive Arts and Technology, will use SFU’s new online course evaluation system. In addition, the Economics, Linguistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology and World Literature departments in Arts and Social Sciences will adopt the new system. SFU recently hired Kiran Bisra as its new manager, course evaluations and assessment. She is situated in the Teaching and Learning Centre. Read her bio or visit the SETC website.
